Title compds. (I, Ph = halogen, alkyl, etheified hydroxyl group-substituted phenyl; R = aralkyl, heteroaralky1, cycloalkyl-alkyl), useful as diuretics, were prepd. by reacting carboxylic acids(IV) with > 1 mole eq. wt. amines(V)at >120≦̸C. 2,4-Dichloro-5-sulfamoyl benzonitrile(II) was used as a starting material for IV.
