<p>A composite sheet comprises a resin-impregnated veneer 5 mm thick stuck to a supporting sheet backed by a layer of insulating material. The borders of the support layer are machined to size with edge profiles suitable for tongue and groove joints. The veneer is preimpregnated under pressure with a low viscosity resin, pref. after using either a vacuum or pressure to deaerate the pores. The support is made of softwood, blockwood, etc., may be covered by one or more strips of veneer (side by side). Used for panels for lining walls or ceilings at lower cost and with better insulation than solid wood panels. The impregnated surface is more durable and less prone to warping than an untreated veneer.</p> |
