AC machine stator coil bar - has sectional conductors transposed in pairs in stator slot w.r.t. conductor dimensions

The conductor bar for the stator coil of an a.c. machine specially for generators in hydraulic power plant, has a rectangular section and consists of twenty insulated part conductors in two vertical stacks side-by-side, separated by an insulating layer. The part conductors of each stack are transported within the stator slot (23) in pairs. In the first stack (1-10) for example, the bars (1, 2) followed by the bars (3, 4) etc. are transposed together. The slot length between the end windings (24 25) is divided into three sections with the two outer section lengths l1 and l3 equal to one-quarter and the length l2 equal to half the total. This reduces the stray losses and local hot spots by equaliser currents.
