<p>The lamp holder has a fixed base platform (16) with stationary switch contacts (20) connected to the incoming leads (22). A moving contact assembly (8) fits into the recess formed by a rim (17) on the platform (16). The moving assembly comprises a plate on one side of which are the contacts (32; 30, 40) for the lamp. On the other side are the moving contacts (34, 36) of the switch. The pins (34, 36) which are the moving contacts slide in slots (18) in the platform. When a lamp (14) is screwed in, torque is transmitted via the lamp contacts (40) which turns the plate to bring the moving contacts (34, 36) against the fixed (20) ones. A coil spring (26) can be fitted to separate the contacts when the lamp is removed. The construction gives a safe switching action. As the action is rotary, instead of axial, inadvertent closure of the contacts with the lamp removed is inhibited.</p> |
