PURPOSE:To diminish the post hardening phenomenon of the resulting title material and stabilize the hardening level thereof by adding an N-methylol type hardening agent and specified polyethylene glycol to an emulsion layer or an auxiliary layer. CONSTITUTION:To a silver halide photographic emulsion layer and/or an auxiliary layer such as an emulsion protective layer or a filter layer formed as required are added an N-methylol type hardening agent represented by formula II [where R<1> is H, methylol or alkyl, R<2> is alkyl, alkoxy or -N(R<1>)-CH2OH, and R<1> and R<2> may bond to each other to form a ring] and one or more kinds of compounds represented by formula I (where n is 3-30 and in case of polyethylene glycol n is a number calculated from its average MW). At this time, the agent is used in the min. amt. required to attain the desired saturation hardening level, and hardening is accelerated by the compound of formula I to attain the level in a short time. |
