The open fireplace is used to provide the hot water for a central heating installation and comprises a hollow hearth (6) and back (1). These contain water which is heated by the fire and passes upwards through finned tubes (2) and to the radiators (11). The water temperature is monitored by a thermostat (8) which operates a shutter (4) mounted over the fireplace opening. This shutter is counterweighted (5) and is raised or lowered in side grooves (3) to regulate the air supply to the fire. An auxiliary air vent (10) is also provided in the base of the fireplace. |
