The open fireplace comprises a hollow hearth (10) containing water for heating by the fire. This also flows upwards through the hollow back (1) of the fireplace and along a pipe (11) to radiators or a tank. Some water is extracted (3) from this hollow back and passes along pipes (8) located in the open over the fire, to a heat exchanger (4) formed by the fireplace hood. A small diameter cylindrical diameter cylindrical heat exchanger (7) is also fitted in the hood back (6). These are of small section and have a rapid heating action: suitable finning (9) is also provided.
|
