The motor vehicle steering column coupling assembly comprises a first bevel gear (4) fixed on the steering spindle (1) meshing with a second bevel gear (6) on the input shaft (2) to the steering gear box (3). The ends of spindle and shaft are connected by a ball head (8) on the one, (2, 1) engaging a socket cup (9) on the other spindle (1 or 2). At least one bevel gear (6) is axially spring-loaded (7).
