<p>A bench 10 for use in association with barbell type weightlifting apparatus has a pair of downwardly opening, U-shaped rails 12 defining legs 14, 16, a horizontal seat portion 18, and a reclinable seat back 22 provided with a hinged supporting strut. An upright standard 34 is located on either side of and spaced from the rails for supporting a barbell. An upper, U-shaped, upwardly opening, transverse member 38 is releasably connected to the rails and to the standards 34 to prevent side sway of the standards. A lower, U-shaped forwardly opening, transverse member 54 is releasably connected to the foot of the rear legs 16 and standards 34 to prevent relative movement therebetween. <IMAGE></p> |
