PURPOSE:To prevent excessive moistening of seed and to get a good seedling, by using a medium having a hydrophilic material layer and a hydrophobic material layer. CONSTITUTION:A seed is put into an incision 4 of a hydrophobic material layer 3 such as foamed polyethylene. The seed is placed on the top of the lower hydrophilic material layer 2 such as rock wool by this process. The lower part of the seed is supplied with a moderate amount of water from the hydrophilic material layer. Excessive moistening of the upper part of the seed can be prevented by the lack of water-absorptivity of the hydrophobic material layer 3. A stout seedling can be obtained since the sprout of the seed grows while expanding the wall of the incision part 4. |
