A coupling device for wooden furniture panels comprises a headed bolt (1) having a screw threaded stem (2), a socket member having a transverse recess or aperture (7), and an internally threaded retaining nut (8) housed generally within the aperture (7) with its longitudinal axis generally alignable with that of the transverse aperture. The nut is capable of slight radial movement within its housing but is prevented from freely rotating. The diameter of the aperture or recess is larger than that of the bolt stem thereby allowing free insertion of the bolt stem therein to threadedly engage with its retaining nut.
