The drum has a fixed frame and vertical supports. A central threaded axle has a pitch equal to the diameter of the cable and is mounted on the support. A number of guide rollers are fitted in the frame around the edge of the drum flange. The cable is threaded through the guide and the cable is fed from a constant position with the drum travelling laterally at each turn.
