<p>Saw chain including trailing extensions (72a, 72b) which are mounted to swing through a selected angle upwardly and forwardly out of mating sliding engagement with bearing surface formations (66a, 66b) in accordance with a selected substantially uniform change in direction of the saw chain dictated by a change from a straight-line path of travel to a curvate path of travel whereby the trailing extension projecting portions (A1, A2) are presented ahead of said following associated cutter portions at a selected radial extent sufficient to effectively limit penetration of the cutter portions (62a, 62b) throughout the curvate path of travel and thereby function as a depth gauge.</p> |
