Electronic devices, such as photovoltaic cells, luminescing diodes and rectifiers, are fabricated from eutectic mixtures of p-type and n- type materials formed to provide aligned lamellae 15, 16 alternately of the two materials to provide a sheet or plate 14 having a multiplicity of elongated p-n junctions along the engaging edges of the lamellae. Electrical contact is provided by spaced strips 17, 18 alternately of n-type and p-type materials which extend transversely of the lamellae on one side of the sheet and engage all the lamellae while providing effective conduction between the lamellae of the materials of the same type and forming additional junctions with the lamellae of the other type.
