A weld seam, partic. in fabrics and synthetic films, is produced by a hot tapered tool and/or hot and cold air; a driving belt guided around >=2 rollers provides the pressure at both the welding and cooling areas. Process is continuous can use existing welding devices, and can be arranged to fit required heating and cooling times.
