PURPOSE:To remove oxides of nitrogen in exhaust gas by incorporating as catalyst oxide or hydroxide of metal into a reducing agent and placing the resulting agent in exhaust gas, thereby the reduction temperature is lowered, an amount of the reducing agent used is reduced and the reaction time is shortened. CONSTITUTION:In a process for reducing oxides of nitrogen in exhaust gas from boiler, waste incinerator, turbine, etc. with a reducing agent such as amines, amides, ammonia, said reducing agent is mixed with oxide or hydroxide of a metal as catalytic component. The resulting mixture is placed in exhaust gas at a temperature of above 280 deg.C. Examples of oxides and hydroxides of metals are ferrous hydroxide, titanium oxides powders, etc. The oxide or hydroxide is used in an amount of above 0.1% by weight based on the weight of the reducing agent. |
