PURPOSE:To avert the unnecessary charging in non-image-forming regions and prevent the deposition of developer by letting the specified portion of the photosensitive layer provided on a substrate make as the non-image forming part composed of a charge-non-blocking layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer 22 to be evenly provided on the substrate 21 of a photosensitive drum 20 is constituted by the image-forming part 24 composed of amorphous selenium being a charge-blocking layer and the non-image- forming part 24 composed of selenium crystal being a charge-non-blocking layer (The region from the finishing end of the preceding images up to the leading end of the next images of a photosensitive drum 10, i.e., the portion corresponding to the non-image-forming region) 25. The abovementioned non-image-forming part 25 is formed by depositing amorphous selenium over the entire surface of the substrate 21, then applying heat treatment through ultraviolet light radiation or reaction, etc. with alcohol, benzene, etc. only to the portion to be made to the non-image-forming part 25 thereby converting amorphous selenium to selenium crystal. |
