[Also in Division F4] Apparatus for dispensing heat storing cores comprises a horizontal plate 6 supporting a plurality of columns of cores and threaded on to a stationary verticle spindle 4, the pitch of the thread being equal to the thickness h of the cores and the plate being adapted to support the columns at heights which increase in the direction of rotation of the plate for dispensing by amounts equal to the pitch of the thread divided by the number of columns of cores, ejecting means being provided to remove the top core of the tallest column as it passes a dispensing position. As illustrated five columns of cores are used and are supported on plate platforms (Fig. 5) which differ in height by h/5. Perforations in the plate 6 are slidably engaged by guide bars 5 of a cage which is rotated by a motor 19 through gearing 8. The cage has a top plate 3 provided with apertures through which the cores pass for dispensing and through which cores may be loaded from a top opening of a casing 1. The casing includes heating elements 12 for heating the cores. A pivoted arm 10 is provided for ejecting the cores through a shoot (not shown). A control system is provided whereby the plate 6 may be returned to its lowermost position when the apparatus is empty and thereafter rotated by increments of one fifth of a turn to allow the loading of columns of cores. The loaded apparatus may dispense cores automatically at fixed time intervals or may dispense cores when required. |
