A coil of metal strip or sheet is placed on a mandrel located below guide rails along which a trolley can be driven. On one end of the trolley is a pivot bolt for a fork carrying a pressure roller, whereas the other end of the trolley has a second pivot bolt for a second fork carrying a bending roller. Both rollers can be moved towards or away from the coil via the piston rods of work cylinders. After travelling round part of the periphery of the bending roller, the metal strip travels round a reverse bending roller, which can be adjusted vertically to vary the angle of bend applied to the strip, and then through a pair of driven rollers. Strip of various thickness and tensile strength can be unwound and straightened without forming kinks in the strip.
