Carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and its derivatives are cross-linked by reaction with a carbodiimide. By this reaction, hydrophilic substances are obtained, whose density, in a water solution, is very high and which, under certain conditions, give hydrated gels. These gels are self-destructible and eliminated without causing pollution. The CMC thus cross-linked can be stabilised by addition of phenol amines or organic acids as well as by amino acids.
|
