PURPOSE:To provide a parking brake, which is actuated and released through the movement of a plunger, wherein arrangement is such as to prevent that the parking brake is accidentally released with returning of the plunger due to malfunctioning of the same, and resultantly the vehicle starts moving unexpectedly by its own gravity. CONSTITUTION:Brackets 1, 4 on both sides of tubular guide 3 are fixed respectively to dashboard 2 and lower surface 5 of instrument board at the driver's seat of vehicle, and a plunger 6 is fitted into the tubular guide 3 in freely slidable manner. One end of plunger 6 is connected to the brake by means of cable 7, and retchet teeth 9 and guide groove 10 are formed along the entire length of the plunger 6 respectively on the upper and the lower surface of the same. A lock member 11 formed with teeth 12 along the entire length thereof is fitted into the groove 10, and a lock piece 15 is attached to pole 14 of lock member 13 which is supported by bracket 4. Further, projection 18 of lock member 11 is coupled with boss 20 of handle 19 which is in turn coupled with plunger 6, with pin 22 being fitted in an elongated hole 21. |
