<p>A lightweight wheel is mfd. using a pressure injection mould. A lightweight alloy is used to obtain an approximate shape. There is subsequent machining for finishing of the finer details. The wheel disc and rim are prepared in one operation, without welds and provide a simple, economic structure with maximum strength. The wheel disc has preformed hub and rim sections which require simple machining without reducing the strength. The process can be applied to low cost mass produced components. The wheel is suitable for use on a wide variety of different vehicles including buses. The wheel construction is suitable for landing wheels on aircraft.</p> |
