The connection for the supporting mat and a hook for hanging into a lengthways bar on an adjacent mat are incorporated in the hook. They are used for transversely connecting superimposed warping mats as an integral part of gallery support in underground mines and tunnels. Lengthways bars have hooks formed on the ends for partial grip on the support profiles. Connection with the supporting mat is in the form of a clamp (20) enclosing the cross-bar concerned. The hook (3) has a straight shaft (4), and arched centre section (5) and an arched end section (6), with its curve (7) pointing towards the shaft. This can be subsequently applied, to furnish bend-resistant transverse connection, and can be used again if necessary.
