The inflatable umbrella does not have spokes or a frame. The canopy is made of plastics and consists of soldered ducts inflated by a piston pump or cartridge or pressurised gas with an opening valve. The pump or cartridge is fixed to the end of a telescopic handle formed of interlocking tubes of different diameters. After use, the cover is disposable, while the handle and pump or cartridge can be folded down like a pen. A non-return valve enables the ducts to remain inflated, while the inflation nozzle ensures that the canopy is gas tight.
