PURPOSE:To secure transmission of the optical signal in case the repeating function of the optical repeater is not required by installing the by-pass optical fiber in parallel to the main body of the optical repeater via the optical switch which can be operated from a remote place and provided at the input/output part of the main body of the optical repeater. CONSTITUTION:Usually, optical switches 6 and 7 are connected to contacts A1 and B1 to carry out the amplification and repeating via main body 3 of the optical repeater. When the contacts of switches 6 and 7 are connected to A2 and B2 via control circuit 14, input side optical fiber 4 is connected directly to output side optical fiber 5 via by-pass optical fiber 9. As a result, the optical signal can be transmitted with no intervention of main body 3 of the optical repeater in case the amplifying and repeating function of the optical repeater is not required. |
