Bottles are sterilised using a drum which dips into a bath of hot water at 85 degrees - 95 degrees C. The bottles are first preheated to 45 degrees C - 55 degrees C by dipping them upright to 2/3 of their length in the bath without letting water enter the inside. They are then entirely submerged and after emergence and draining, a jet of cold water is directed on the bottle bottom to cool them to 50 degrees - 60 degrees C. This avoid the objectionable smell of SO2 solutions and the problems of neutralising them before they can be discharged into the drainage system.
|
