The motor vehicle fuel supply system incorporates a pump with a strainer in the bottom part and an electric level indication emitter, both mounted in the tank. The pipe and wires are taken out through a sealing member holding pump and emitter in position. The emitter is of the immersion-tube type (6), fixed to the sealing member (7), and the strainer (3) is mounted on the underside of a flat suction boss (8) fitted to the pump (2). The boss can be oblong, extending horizontally and of nearly the same width as the dia. (D) of the opening in the tank.
