<p>PURPOSE:A method of effectively deodorization comprising adding Cl2 or Br2 to gas containing mercaptan, (di)sulfide, NH3 or amine and contacting the resulting gas with activated carbon. CONSTITUTION:Cl2 (for example from the reaction of NaOCl with H2SO4) or Br2 (for example the reaction of NaOBr with H2SO4) is added to gas containing mercaptan (for example CH3SH), (di)sulfide (for example CH3SCH3), NH3 or amine (for example CH3NH2). The mixed gas is contacted with activated carbon having a surface area in the range of about 200-20000m<2>/g at a temperature of below about 80 deg.C, preferably 5-50 deg.C, at a space velocity of about 50-50000hr<-1>, preferably 200-15000hr<-1>.</p> |
