PURPOSE:To prepare a phosphazene polymer, economically, in high efficiency, by the thermal ring-opening polymerization of a cyclic phosphazene oligomer in the presence of a linear phosphazene stabilized with a metal halide. CONSTITUTION:(A) 5-70wt% of a linear phosphazene stabilized with a metal halide, of formulas I-III (X is halogen; M is metal atom; x is valency of M; n is 2-100), produced as a byproduct in the systhesis of a cyclic phosphazene oligomer, is mixed with (B) 95-30wt% of a cyclic phosphazene oligomer of formula (PX2N) m, (X is halogen; m is 3-20), and the mixture is heated at 150-350 deg.C for 1- 300hrs, in a good solvent or a non-solvent of phosphazene polymer, to effect the thermal rign-opening polymerization of the cyclic phosphazene oligomer at a conversion of as high as >=90%. |
