A tool for stripping old wall-paper consists of a spiked roller mounted in a housing which is clamped to vibrator. The vibrator is bolted to a reduction gear and driving motor. The housing is secured by a nut and a stack of disc springs so that there is normally a small gap between the shoulder and the end face of the extension of the vibrator. The roller is pressed against the wall so that the disc springs are compressed and the non-rotating disc engages the circular cam. As the cam rotates it imparts an oscillation to the disc which drives the plunger and roller.
