A differential pressure probe 2 for measuring the velocity of flow of a medium flowing in a pipe has a probe body adapted to be located in the pipe at right-angles to the longitudinal axis of the pipe indicated by an arrow. Openings 2c, 2a, 2b are provided for receiving both a proportion of the dynamic flow pressure as well as the static flow pressure. The openings 2a, 2b for receiving the static flow pressure are located behind the openings 2c for receiving the proportion of the dynamic pressure when considered in the direction of flow. In the direction of flow of the medium, the openings serving for receiving the static flow pressure are arranged in pairs on both sides in the probe body in front of a region of decreasing width of the probe body e.g. downstream of line CD.
