The ski and chain assembly is fitted to the wheels of a vehicle to assist travel over icy or snow-covered roads. One ski is placed under each of the front wheels and a link track is placed under each rear wheel. The tracks turn on two parallel guide plates which are held apart by two horizontal cylinders and supported wheel. Each ski has an arcuate groove in its upper surface to accommodate the tyre of the wheel to which it is fitted. At each end of the groove is fixed one end of a link chain which passes over the wheel to immobilise it.
