PURPOSE:To utilize activated carbon particles in prevention and treatment of diseases by coating the particles with one or more out of agar, sodium alginate, pectin, carrageenan and glucomannan to form coated activated carbon powder, granules, tablets, cakes, or the likes. CONSTITUTION:Medical activated carbon is mixed in an aq. soln. of one or more out of agar, sodium alginate, pectin, carrageenan and glucomannan with a mixer followed by air drying and vacuum drying. Out of the coating materials, the carrageenan, galactan sulfate forms a film for the activated carbon and adsorbs urea, etc. owing to the sulfate groups contained, so it is expected that the carrageenan shows a synergistic effect together with the carbon. |
