Fabric is treated with a soln. of a water-soluble hardenable polymer (I) in an aq. medium. Simultaneously or subsequently, the fabric is treated with a compatible deposition agent (II) which lowers the solubility of the (I). The polymer is then allowed to deposit onto the textile and to cure. Suitable polymers (I) are polycarbamoylsulphonates, Bunte salt polymers, amphoteric polymers as described in GB application 9467/75, anionic acrylate emulsions, cationic polymers such as polyamide-epihalohydrin polymers, acetidinium polymers, blocked polyisocyanate emulsions, etc. Process can be effected without using complex appts. and uses relatively cheap raw materials. It is possible to work at neutral or alkaline pH. The process is useful e.g. for crease proofing treatment of keratin-contg. fabrics such as wool.
|
