A seat (10) includes a spring assembly (15) and a seat frame (11, 12, 13). The spring assembly (15) comprises the combination of a sinuous spring band (20) connected between the front and back rails (11, 12) of the seat frame and a rectangular loop, zig-zag wire spring unit (40) rigidly secured to the top of the spring band. A substantially horizontal cushion support section (45) of the unit extends between the front rail and a point approximately three-quarters of the way from front to back rails.
