<p>The vessels are those in which grape skins, stalks etc. agglomerate to form a cake of marc which can be difficult to break up and discharge. Each vessel has a horizontal channel in its base contg. a conveyor screw to discharge marc. Inside the vessel a panel has one edge fixed to a hinge parallel to the discharge channel. The panel can be pivoted to- and -fro by an externally controlled linkage. Movement of the panel continually changes the vessel vol. available for occupation by marc. A panel is pref. hinged along each edge of the channel. The upper edge of each panel is hinged to one edge of a second panel of which the opposite edge is hinged to a slider which can be reciprocated up and down a length of the vessel wall. The articulated panel system simulates an inverted umbrella which breaks up marc as it rises and tends to direct it into the channel as it descends. Conversion of wine-making vessels to automatically self-emptying type. Can be fitted to existing as well as new vessels. Breaks up mass of marc to facilitate discharge.</p> |
