The process is form the production of heat-insulated tubes with a pipe retained centrally inside an outer cover tube. The inner space between the two pipes is filled with an insulating material. Distance rings with raidally projecting distance pieces (22) are fitted on the tube and the cover pipe introduced over them. The distance rings are fixed around the pipe by a flexible distance strip (10) drawn up to fit tightly.
