PURPOSE:To facilitate discrimination of a recording material, by incorporating a perfume, a colored dye and/or a colored pigment in the recording material. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material comprises a support 1, an under coat layer 2, a thermal recording layer 3, an intermediate layer 4 and an overcoat layer 5. A perfume, a colored dye and/or a colored pigment are incorporated in components of the recording material. The perfume and the colored dye or colored pigment do not need to be incorporated in the same component of the recording material. With the perfume incorporated not in the recording layer but in the overcoat layer, color development fogging of the recording layer due to the perfume can be improved, and the fogging can be completely prevented by providing the intermediate layer. For effective coloration of the recording material, it is preferable to incorporate the colored dye or the colored pigment in the overcoat layer. Though the perfume can be incorporated in the recording material in any of various forms, it is preferable to incorporate the perfume in a microencapsulated form, from the viewpoint of retention of the perfume, prevention of the color development fogging of the recording layer, or the like. |
