<p>An assembly for joining together two building construction elements with an air and watertight seal between them consists of a first component of semi-hard PVC in the form of a first and secon continuous strip joined along one of their long edges by an additional strip. The first strip stands at right angles to the additional strip which blends into the second strip through a semicircular curve. As the curve approaches the first strip, it is folded back and the second strip then runs parallel to the first, a slight distance away, so as to form a longitudinal slot which opens into a semicircular cavity. A second component consists of a strip of soft PVC which is joggled lengthways along its centre line, so as to form a projection which is a push fit into the slot of the first component and makes a connection resistant to penetration by rain water. The sealing elements ensure a watertight joint and are esp. applicable to both wood and metal window frames, etc.</p> |
