1502887 Gas turbine plant; air pre-heating MOTOREN-UND TURBINEN-UNION MUNCHEN GmbH 9 Sept 1975 [11 Sept 1974] 36997/75 Heading F1G [Also in division F4] A gas turbine engine comprises a recuperative heat exchanger 7 and a rotary regenerative heat exchanger 6 arranged so that exhaust gas 8 flows first through the recuperative then through the regenerative heat exchanger. On the other hand, air from the compressor 1 flows first through the regenerative then through the recuperative heat exchanger, before passing to the combustion chamber 2 and the turbines 3, 4. The engine shown in Fig. 2 comprises a centrifugal air compressor 16, combustion chamber 19 and turbine 17 all disposed co-axially, the air from the compressor passing first to the rotary regenerative heat exchanger 24 then to the recuperative heat exchanger which is formed as a pair of units in inverted V-formation before passing to the combustion chamber. The turbine exhaust gases pass first to the recuperative heat exchanger then to the regenerative heat exchanger 24. |
