PURPOSE:To obtain graphite material for cell, having excellent cell ability by a simple method by graphitizing carbonaceous material having specified particle size and thereafter by oxidizing with an oxidizing agent. CONSTITUTION:The coarse or massive carbonaceous material having >=250mu, preferably >=590mu particle size is graphitized, regulated the particle size to >=250mu, preferably 250-1,400mu and thereafter treated with the oxidizing agent. Further, the carbonaceous material treated with the oxidizing agent is preferably calcined, removed and excess of the oxidizing agent with an aq. soln. of sodium nitrite, etc., thereafter treated by calcining and finely powdered to obtain the targeted graphite material. The graphite material obtd. by the method above- mentioned has excellent cell ability and can give an industrially inexpensive graphite material for cell. |
