<p>Appts. for recovering oil slicks from the sea surface comprises a barrage in the bottom of which is a flexible suction pipe with holes along its length fitted with valves. The device has a profile allowing air to be retained for floation, and formed from plsticised cloth of double thickness rolled on itself and held by stainless steel spring sheets between the layers, with a gap for liq. to enter the suction pipe. The cloth can be rolled flat on a drum and takes its shape again immediately it is unwound due to the steel sheets. Device allows efficient retention of the oil slick, the tensile stresses being supported by steel cables. The storage of the barrage cloth is easily carried out by rolling it flat on a drum on a tractor-ship. The flexibles are deposited as elements on the tractor ship.</p> |
