1429024 Folding and stacking sheets IZDATEL IZVESTIA SOVETOV DEPUTATOV TRUDYASCHIKH SSSR 10 Dec 1973 [12 July 1973] 57046/73 Heading B8R Sheets 6 severed from a web 3 are held on a folding drum 1 by pins 2, and are transversely folded between folding roller pairs 7 or 8 by tucker blades 5 mounted on shafts mounted on the drum. The pins are released by a cam 15 when the sheet is folded. The shafts are rotated by means of gears 9 engaging a planetary gear 11 as the drum rotates. The gear 11 is set in one of two angular positions, according to which pair of rollers 7, 8 is to be used, by a rack 14 engaging a pinion 12 which also carries the cam. The rack is controlled by a programming device settable to determine the number of sheets to be folded between one roller pair before switching to the other, in response to a counter for registering the number of sheets folded between said one roller pair. The sheets folded between the roller pairs 7, 8 are delivered into two separate streams. In the case of each stream, the sheets are conveyed by a flywheel 16 on to a stack support 20 which is lowered by a cam 21 as the stack builds up, and completed stacks are deposited on a conveyer 24 for removal. |
