The vacuum sweeper is used to clean the walls and floors of a swimming pool. It incorporates two driven cylindrical brushes (34) whose actions converge on the detritus inlet aperture (53). The brushes are mounted on parallel axles in a housing (1) with a handle and a vacuum hose coupling spigot (5), being mounted about a detritus collector funnel (50). The brushes may comprise drums with radial bristles, and a roller is mounted on each projecting axle end. The rollers may be keyed onto the axles, being replaced by perpendicular rollers on cantilever brackets for wall sweeping. The brushes may be driven by a hydraulic motor with reduction gearing and tandem gears to each wheel.
