The invention specifies a device for avoiding dripping water, resulting from thermal expansion, in open hot-water storage tanks. For this purpose, a water-jet pump is used, which is arranged in the cold-water supply to the hot-water storage tank. It sucks in air by a non-return valve which is admixed to the water flowing to the apparatus. This air then either separates off in an additional receptacle or in the dome of the apparatus and creates space to receive the dripping water.
