Vibration damper for motor vehicle prop shaft - has ring mass secured by rubber member with insert increasing axial and radial rigidity

The vibration damper is for a drive shaft esp. the prop shaft in a motor vehicle. A rotary ring mass (1) is secured to the shaft via a carrier (2) and a resilient member (4) of rubber or similar material. To prevent wobble of the mass (1) an insert is provided to increase rigidity of the member in axial direction (3a, b) and/or radially (5). Axial rigidity may be increased by having an axially broken surface as the boundary surface between the member and the mass and/or between the member and the carrier. Radial rigidity may be increased by a rigid annular insert (5) in the member.
