Vehicle IC engine roller test bed - includes individual cylinder efficiency and power loss measurement by flywheel driving vehicle wheels

A method and device for testing vehicle combustion engine using a roller test bed involves continuous generation of an electrical signal corresp. to power at the drive wheels during acceleration testing using a driven roller and flywheel. For power loss measurement, the flywheel drive the vehicle drive wheels via the roller with the engine decoupled. The measurement time is considerably reduced w.r.t. other methods. Individual cylinder efficiency is determined. During acceleration testing, the ignition energy of at least one engine cylinder is continuously monitored and reduced at a defined rate until ignition ceases.
