PURPOSE:To eliminate the clatter of plate materials, improve the accuracy of welding and enable working time to be reduced by providing recesses to create the gaps of the special shape between the protrusions sadwiching the plate faces and the plate materials in the electrode for resistancs welding. CONSTITUTION:In welding a heat radiating rib 1 to the outside frame 6 of a steel plate, the plate faces 11, 12 of the rib 1 are sandwiched by the protrusions 81, 82 of two upper electrodes 31, 32 by known opening and cloisng mechanisms. The upper electrodes 31, 32 are provided with recesses 91, 92 between these and plate faces 11, 12. The recesses 91, 92 are so formed that the gaps between these and the plate faces 11, 12 begin at the protrusions 81, 82 and become gradually smaller in the opposite directions of the welding protrusion 2. The protrusion 2 is pressure-contacted to the outer frame 6 and current is supplied to the upper electrodes 31, 32 and lower electrode 7, whereby welding is accomplished. Since the rib 1 is sandwiched by the plate faces close to the welding protrusion 2 and the grooves 41, 42 on the further side, the clatter of the rib 1 is eliminated, the accuracy of welding improved and working time reduced since holding of the rib 1 may be made faster than by conventional methods. |
