<p>The railway coupling has the coupling bar threaded through the carriage chassis on a sliding fit, with retaining flanges to prevent it being pulled out. Elastic dampers are spaced between the flanges and the mounting to absorb sharp tugs and prevent damage to the coupling. For optimum damping, the dampers are spaced about the coupling bar so that the bar is guided straight and does not jam in the mounting.</p> |
