PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin with high exchange capacity, high exchange speed and superior washability esp. after alkali regeneration by converting one or more phenolic hydroxy groups of a phenolic anion exchange resin, into ether groups, obtd. by rendering a resin porous, small spherical, cross linking and three-dimensional. CONSTITUTION:Phenols such as phenol, aldehydes such as HCHO and aliph. amines such as dimethylamine are suspension-polycondensated into small spheres in the presence of inorg. salt such as NaCl, and the salt is removed to prepare a phenolic anion exchange resin. This resin is pref. of porous type having a surface area of 0.1 m<2>/g-resin. To this resin is added alkali metal hydroxide such as NaOH in an amt. of 1.0-2.0 mols per eq. of phenolic hydroxy groups of the resin and further added halohydrin such as ClCH2CH2OH in an amt. of 1.0-5.0, esp. 1.5- 3.0 mols per eq. of the hydroxy groups, and they are reacted at 20-100, esp. 50- 90 deg.C in solvent, esp. water to obtain the title resin. |
